This scholarship is for two or more sophomore engineering majors. Spring or Fall graduates who will transfer with 56+ units from F.C. to a four-year college or university are eligible. The Mathematics Division will recommend recipients upon consultation with the Technical Education Division.
This scholarship award is made to honor Dr. Samuel H. Cortez, who came to Fullerton with his wife Elsie Yates Cortez in 1934. After serving as a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy during WWII, he returned to his post as Professor of Physics. He died in 1957. The endowment was established by his three children, Patricia Cortez Bertelli, Karen Cortez Klaustermeyer and Dr. Douglas Hensley Cortez.
This award is made to top FCC students majoring in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or Mathematics/Computer Science with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and carrying a course load of 12 units or more. The award is based on academic achievement first and financial need as secondary factor. The awardee must be in their second year of study at FCC, completed the first year courses in their chosen major, and planning to transfer to a four-year college or university. The award is available only to US Citizens and without regard to race, religion, ethnic origin, gender, or sexual orientation.
The recommendations for the award shall be made by the Scholarship Committees of the Engineering, Physical Sciences, and/or Mathematics/Computer Sciences Department.
This scholarship is awarded to a full-time student who is receiving a Board of Governor's Fee Waiver and has completed at least 24 units and who is enrolled in educational and training programs in science, technology and engineering to promote new advances in environmental compliance, sustainability planning and alternative energy. Selection of the recipient(s) is by the Division faculty.
This award is for a U.S. citizen and legally begotten descendent of an honorably discharged U.S. veteran of World War II with a minimum 3.0 G.PA. Gender and religion will not be a consideration. This award is based on academic achievement and is not dependent on financial need. It is intended to recognize the student's achievements and effort. The student must be a transferring student who is accepted and enrolled in a four-year university before disbursement is made. This is awarded to top engineering, Mathematics, Computer Sciences or Physics students only who carry a 12-unit load.
The purpose of the Stack/Reynolds Scholarship Fund II in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Sciences or Physics is intended to keep the memory of Miss Lena Reynolds, a former Fullerton College Mathematics Instructor, alive. It is also intended to reward Full-time freshman students who are preparing themselves to transfer to a four year university and, in the process, have exhibited excellence in their academic pursuits. Furthermore, it is intended to honor Gerald C. Stack, a former student of Miss Reynolds, who graduated from Fullerton College and went on to study Electrical Engineering at Berkeley, graduating in 1950 with honors.
Criteria and Selection: The Scholarship shall be awarded based upon academic achievement and is to be independent of the financial status of the parents. It is intended to recognize that the student's achievements were the result of the student's efforts alone. The student will be a United States citizen and the legally begotten descendent of an honorably discharged U.S. veteran of World War II. Gender and religion will not be a consideration in the award of the scholarship. The parents of the student will provide a written statement attesting to the fact that the student is such a descendant. The selection will be by Division Faculty.
