Amanda Walzer Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is for a Fullerton College student currently taking at least 6 units, with a GPA of 2.5 or higher, and has no financial needs. The recipient must meet one of the following criteria: currently enrolled in (in good standing) a Fullerton College creative writing class; previously completed a Fullerton College creative writing class with a C or better; actively involved in LiveWire or a similar Humanities Division publication; OR actively involved in some aspect of the Fullerton College creative writing community. As part of his/her involvement in the above class, publication, or community, the recipient will have demonstrated service or leadership or in some other way will have fostered a creative writing culture in or out of the class room.

Bill Glassman Reading Scholarship

This scholarship is given by the Reading Department to students who have completed the course sequence of Reading 36, 56, 96, and 142, as well as a recommendation from the professor of Reading 142.

Dorcas Turner Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is for one or more graduating students, who have done exemplary work in any foreign language, preferably Spanish. Candidate must have completed at least Foreign Language level 204 and must continue with foreign language studies at any 4-year college or university. Recipient must be a full-time student with a minimum 3.0 G.P.A. The Foreign Language Department will determine the recipient of the scholarship.

Doug and Ann Myles Family/Osher Scholarship for Humanities

This scholarship is awarded to a student who has completed 24 or more units and is taking at least 12 units per semester.  The recipient must also be receiving a Board of Governor's Fee Waiver.  The primary goal of this scholarship is to assist and recognize high-achieving students who plan to transfer to a four-year university to pursue studies in the liberal arts.   Division faculty will select the recipient.

Doug Kresse Forensics Scholarship

The Doug Kresse Forensics is for a student who is or has been a member of the Fullerton Forensics Team for at least 2 semesters. They must have a GPA of 3.0 and taking a a minimum of 6 units and will be graduating or transferring.

English Department Scholarship
This scholarship can be awarded to one or more outstanding English majors graduating in February or June and transferring by the Fall to a four-year college/university. The award may be divided. The English Department will recommend.

Frank Palko Humanitarian Award
This award can be given to one or more students with a minimum 2.5 G.P.A. Student(s) must be carry at least 9 units and must have completed 30 units at F.C., and financial need is a consideration. Student(s) should represent the spirit and values of humanities and be committed to the improvement of the quality of life, community or family. A special committee within the Humanities Division will determine recipient.

Geneva Johnson Foreign Language Scholarship

This scholarship can be awarded to one or two deserving graduates of F.C. who will continue, in upper division or graduate study as a major in foreign language, preferably Spanish. The Foreign Language Department through the Dean of the Humanities Division will recommend the awardees.

Herb Guthmann Literature Scholarship

The Herb Guthman Literature Scholarship is given in memory of Herbert J. Guthmann a long time Fullerton College English instructor.

This scholarship is given to a full-time or part-time Fullerton College student with a minimum GPA of 2.8 and who is continuing, graduating, or transferring to a four year institution.

Selection of the recipient of the scholarship will be made by the Humanities Division.

Junior Ebell Club Scholarship Reading Award

This scholarship is given by the Fullerton College Reading department to students who have taken Reading 36, 56, 96, or 142, and write an essay on the benefits of these Reading courses to their college education.

Konrad Adenauer German Scholarship

This scholarship is for students having completed German 102 at Fullerton College with a GPA or 3.0 or better in German course work and taking at least 6 units at Fullerton College.

Phyllis Sanderson Scholarship

This scholarship is for a second language learner in the reading program who exemplifies excellence in reading by achieving academic success through demonstrated determination, perseverance, self-discipline and hard work. Student must have a minimum 3.4 G.P.A. and can be either three-quarter time or full time. The student may be continuing at Fullerton College or transferring to a university. The student must show financial need and the scholarship is disbursed in the spring semester only.

Roberta King Maxwell Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is for a continuing full-time student with a minimum 3.0 G.P.A. and  is majoring in a foreign language. The recipient will be chosen by the Humanities Division.

Shirlee Pledger Communication Studies Scholarship

The Shirlee Pledger Communications Studies Scholarship (formerly known as F.C. Speech Department Scholarship) is to be awarded to students who have taken COMM 100 and one additional Communications Studies course and maintaining a 3.0 GPA in those Communication Studies courses. The student should provide a one to three paragraph essay explaining why they are qualified for this scholarship, and a recommendation letter from an instructor in the F.C. Communications department. This scholarship will be award by the Communications Department Faculty.

The Molière French Scholarship

The Molière French Scholarship is for French students with a GPA in their French course work of 3.0 or higher.

William B. Meyer Freshman Writing Award
Recipient must be an outstanding writer from the freshman English composition classes. The freshman English instructors will nominate candidates, and the English Department Scholarship Committee through the Chairman of the Humanities Division will recommend the recipients.

William T. Boyce Creative Writing Award
This scholarship should be awarded to the best student entry in poetry, short story, drama or non-fiction. Division Chairman may adjust amounts for each category as long as it falls within the scholarship allocations. Freshmen and sophomores are eligible for these awards, which will be granted on recommendation of a panel of judges selected by the English Department.
